Oakley Catalogue 0

Posted by kevin

Have been going through a no-purchases phase (apart from the bike obviously!) so to redress the balance I got some more Oakleys today! Yes it’s true, I can’t remember how many pairs I’ve got so I think I’m going to catalogue them

From memory I’ve got:

  • Oakley Frogskins (grey with red lenses) – very 80s; not cool at all.

  • Oakley Zeros (grey with black lenses); these were cool for skiing at the time (like 1998 BUSC holidays etc) but are a bit big now. Did wear them last year for some skiing though and they were nice

  • Oakley E-Wires (pewter with black lenses) – donated by Steve; again, cool at the time but they almost seem like John Lennon efforts now!

  • Oakley Square Wires 2.0 (silver with fire lenses) – bought in Val Thorens in January 2002, destroyed biking July 2002! Lenses are still intact though

  • Oakley Square Wires 2.0 (silver with fire lenses) – insurance replacement for the above; I love these glasses, really cool, very showy!

  • Oakley M-Frames (red with orange heater lens and black heater lens) – bought for eye safety; worn for cycling, can’t beat them for eye coverage

  • Oakley Wisdom goggles (orange with purple lens) – the ultimate in ski goggles; found a minor scratch on my smiths, obviously needed some really expensive Oakley replacements!

  • Oakley M-Frames (silver with fire hybrid lens) – Needed something more posey than the other M-Frames but still good for eye safety; Very cool, good eye safety; certainly enough for skiing and biking in good weather

  • Oakley Fives 2.0 (tortoise shell with gold lenses) – These are the ones I bought today in an effort to be less over the top!; Tried Steve’s similar ones before and loved them so I got a pair for myself!

Oh my gosh so I’ve got 9 1/2 pairs! Maybe that’s a bit excessive!!! Might be interesting to catalogue the Salomon collection next… (watch this space)

Coed Y Brenin and Chester 0

Posted by kevin

Just got back from a weekend in Chester with Mum and Dad. Managed to catch up with Andrew and Paul before last orders on Friday; great to see those two.

The main objective was to get over to the biking centre at Coed Y Brenin for a good old work out on the new bike. Achieved this successfully by hitting the Karrimor Trail and the Red Bull Trail one after the other! Am still knackered today – bear in mind I was on 2.4” tyres (which I know are illegal for alpine biking holidays but still…!) The bike was great once again but will have to get the creaking headset sorted out this week.

The best thing about the biking was that I had a great drive home with great music playing, then got back to find the barbeque lit and food waiting for me! It doesn’t get better than that does it? Thanks M+D!
