Grace update 0

Having spent the weekend in Farndon with the family I was also able to spend it with Steve, Lia and Grace. Grace is now a bouncing (literally) little baby and has quite a scream on her. I’m still enjoying the Uncle perks of being able to hand her over as soon as things go wrong (I think you know what I’m saying).

Anyway, there will be photos on my site shortly of baby and family alike but I also wanted to share a funny video of Steve and Grace acting like loons.

Weddings and more weddings 0

This weekend I spent at a second wedding in three weeks. This one was that of my cousin Jane who was marrying John. A nice ceremony in the impressive Gresford church was livened up by Uncle Phil’s snow blower antics when we went outside to take photos.

Family weddings are always nice in that we all catch up with those that we haven’t seen for a while (especially in my case). What was also fun was meeting new people. John and his family are a really nice bunch so it looks like Jane’s a lucky lady. She looked fantastic and the main highlighy for me was seeing her proud parents Rose and Graham enjoying the day.

So that’s two family weddings in a year (Steve and Lia’s wedding was in January) which seems to have continued a precedent in the Purcell family. My parents and Jane’s parents got married in 1969, my Dad’s other brother’s marriage was in the same year as his sister’s, 1980 and now there are two weddings in 2004. Rose pointed out that Grant and I are still to be married off but he’s not really my type so I promised her that I’d look harder for a suitable girl!

I’ll be putting photos up from John and Janes’ wedding when I get chance so keep checking my photo site in the next day or so.

The second wedding in three weeks was a few weeks ago when I was a guest and Graham and Susan’s wedding in Woodbridge. It was a bit strange not to be involved in any of the precedings (having ushered at James and Katies’ wedding and conducted best man duties for Steve and Lia). What was nice therefore was just turning up and having fun. The ceremony was lively in a packed little church and then the reception was excellent, catching up with Graham’s family and meeting a whole host of people from Nottingham University that I never really met at the time.

What was funny was when I left at midnight and called for a taxi to get me to my golf-course-posh hotel a few miles away. The soonest taxi they could offer was 1.30am so I walked the three miles waving to police cars on my way and walking half of the distance on the golf course itself. Had to brush the grass off my shoes so they were suitable for this weekend’s wedding!!!
